Rome offers all kinds of initiatives: open museums, restaurants, concerts of classical music and rock and a big stage open inside History.

After a traditional dinner with family and friends, most of the Romans will pour themselves in the streets and squares of Rome. Among various events you can visit many markets, from the first week of December throughout the period of Christmas holidays, until 6 January.

In Piazza Navona you can find every kind of toys and gifts, characters and statuettes of the crib. On New Year’s evening in Rome’s Piazza del Quirinale you can attend the traditional concert of classical music at the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano.

Initiatives to celebrate the New Year include open museums and classical music in the symphonic auditorium and in various squares of the old town centre.

The streets of Rome will be inhabitated by a spontaneous spirit of hospitality offering food and fireworks (especially in the Trastevere quarter,) that are organized each year by private and families.

Throughout the evening of New Year Rome Subway will extend the service hours to ensure even those who do not want to travel by car.
